When
did you all become involved in music and how did you
all meet?
Kurt:
Music has forever been in my life, started playing electric
guitar in my hometown of Hannibal, at 16, with a punk
band, the Moronz. Met Jason at Homers in San Diego with
Flooded on fire. And Julissa at an environmental protest.
Julissa:
I am always humming a tune. I
got Kurt's attention that way before the protest. I
was at the Homer's show to meet Jason.
Jason:
I have been playing guitar/bass
since age 13. I first met up with Kurt and Julissa during
a show we played in San Diego, while I was in a experimental
punk band (the floored genius), and we liked each others
performances and wanted to play together more.

What
do you all do when you're not working in the band?
Kurt:
Exploring the universe of botany psychedlia and spiritual
natures. Also multimedia, music production and supernatural
guide.
Julissa:
I work at restaurants and stare off into space allot,
thinking of things to do.
Jason:
I am a bicycle messenger; also
I do some recordings for bands, some we've played with,
to help out the independent artists out there.

What
instruments do you all play and are there any particular
instrument you enjoy The most?
Kurt: I
do allot of them - guitar with effects, Kybds, sounds
them selves and a little clarinet right now.
Julissa:
I
sing, my favorite, I've experimented now with flute
and piano.
Jason:
Bass and guitar, some keyboard, and theremin. I enjoy
the bass the most.
What
creative process do you go through when composing your
music?
Kurt:
An empathy with feeling sound or thinking on subjects
and psychedelic interludes.
Julissa:
I'm still new at composition - I wait till something
hits me.
Jason:
Often it starts as jamming to a drum machine, then repeating
what sounds best to me. Then melting it in with the
other instruments, and voices.

What
inspires you when you write your music?
Kurt:
Passion and playing to move people into a subconscious,
spiritual or other worldliness.
Jason:
Other sounds and imagery of other bands are influential,
sometimes the sound textures of a certain chord, our
subjective environments.

Many
of your song seem to be inspired by love, despair, discovery,
and many other human emotions. What is it about these
subjects that inspires you write about them. How do
you go about writing Lyrics?
Kurt:
The lyrics I do or help with are usually flowing out
during playing of the music then slowly solidifies-
some performances have partial pieces- some remain that
way. Other lyrics come through flashes of inspiration
experiences then written down for later work.
Jason:
These emotions are something in common with many people,
it provides a connection.
What
was the inspiration behind such as "clocks"
"Sweet Sorrow" "Black Surfrider"
Kurt:
Clocks- is looking at our way of keeping time, who says
its right who thinks they control ot, and maybe-other
ways of doing that without limitations. Sweet-sorrow
deals with mass suicide like the Heavens Gate cult,
the way a simple person following anything because the
world is so over exhausted. Black Surf Rider - is a
skateboarders theme of over pollution but we find something
sport or extreme ridden to do within hard times.
Jason:
For me, Kurt and Julissa were the inspiration, as they
had already written these songs before I knew them,
I just added what I felt flowed with them.
Some
of your songs have samples in them where are they from.
Jason:Some
samples we made up, the others, from various movies,
computer sounds. We altered each of these sounds in
some way, so as not to make them too recognizable.

Are
you influence by books or movies or plays.
Kurt: I've
collected unpublished and home videos from yard sales
actually found some personal crop circle footage. And
a late night dose of Outer Limits is always fun. I've
read many metaphysical books and indigenous religions
of the world books. Emily Bronte poems are on the list
of haves. And Gillian from Monty python has done great
films.
Jason:
Yes, too many to name... usually non-fiction is more
inspiring to me, however sci-fi definitely interests
me.

Do
you have any favorite bands that you like listening
to?
Kurt:
Matthew Johnson's 1st album. Pj
Harvey- *star. My bloody Valentine. Scott Joplin. Baroque
music. And times around the piano.
Jason:
the
cure, three-mile pilot, Cocteau twins, legendary pink
dots, others.
Are
you doing any side projects?
Kurt:
Slowly
but we've been touring and we're a little worn.
Jason:
Not
currently, but occasionally jamming with others.

To
the readers who may have not heard much of your music
how would you describe your sound?
Kurt:
Thickish dark warmth with liquid edgy sides.
Jason:
Atmospheric, electro-ambient Goth rock?
How
has the response been with "2013"?
Kurt:
It’s going great in the college towns and underground
scenes. We may have to stick some away for saving.
Jason:
Rather well, many appreciate having something different
out there.
What
was the inspiration behind the "2013"?
Kurt:
Paradigm shifting, Mayan calendars, psychedelics and
Terrance makenna.
Jason:
Putting out an album before the millenium was part of
the idea...

How
long did it take to produce?
Kurt:
An infinite headphone eternity looking out at University
Ave, in San Diego CA.
Jason:
I believe it was about six months, we took our time
on each track to get the right feelings out of each.
What
have you got planned for the next album?
Kurt:
We're releasing our 7" vinyl and a couple shows
before going north to live.
Jason:
Possible live release with some
new tracks in the studio, summer 2000.
Where
have you toured, are you planning any up and coming
tours.
Kurt:
We just toured to the heartland
of the united states and back, places like San Fran,
CA., Albuquerque, NM, Witchcita, KS., Columbia, MO.,
San Diego, CA., and then Seattle, WA.
Jason:
We did a couple tours Midwest America, I was unable
to go on the first one though, but mainly along the
West Coast we've done shows this year...
What
gigs did you enjoy the most and what was the audience
response.
Kurt:
The ones with floors instead of car seats to sleep on.
Jason:
I enjoyed playing in Albuquerque -newmexico because
it was most hospitable, Columbia -Missouri was also
good (a college town). San Francisco had friends there.
What
gigs did you not enjoy?
Kurt:
If we're playing it’s most
enjoyable.
Jason: Kingman
Arizona was not our scene, much there anyway.
Is
there anything special incorporated within your performances?
Kurt:
Photographic are project
and effected with video collages that I've pieced together
plus light boxes we created with colors, bubbles, and
strobes.
Jason:
We use projections to add
ambiance, we sometimes have friends play on some songs,
and the experimental side is brought out more.
When
you have a performance what goes through your mind when
you are on that
Stage. What is it that you feel? What sort of emotions
do you go through when the eyes of the audience are
on you?
Kurt:
I set my mind with the
energy that surges through my body and smears my spirit
through the place, eye to eye with my audience.
Jason:
I feel energetic, the crowd
and lights and electricity give a sort of euphoria...
What
memorable experiences have you had when touring?
Kurt:
Sometimes I think people actually
like strangers, intrigued by differences, a global insight.
Jason:
Meeting new people, artists, seeing
new places. The feeling of freedom on the road.
In
what country are your fans based. Apart from America
what countries do you
Get the most response from?
Kurt:
Our fans are aliens, spores from
inner galaxies.
Jason:
So far Australia and Europe. We
haven't toured there yet though.
What
are your future plans.
Kurt:
I'm going where the Earth's
goin.
Jason:
Relocating the band to
northwest America. Practicing more, writing more.
Is
there anything you would like to say to the readers
out there?
Kurt:
Here's
to friends may we be with them in wonderful times to
come.
Jason:
Support independent artists;
check out something new.email us if you'd like
